Lab tests: Why Consumer Reports can't recommend the iPhone 4

It's official. Consumer Reports' engineers have just completed testing the iPhone 4, and have confirmed that there is a problem with its reception. When your finger or hand touches a spot on the phone's lower left side—an easy thing, especially for lefties—the signal can significantly degrade enough to cause you to lose your connection altogether if you're in an area with a weak signal. Due to this problem, we can't recommend the iPhone 4.
......We also tested several other AT&T phones the same way, including the iPhone 3G S and the Palm Pre. None of those phones had the signal-loss problems of the iPhone 4.

Our findings call into question the recent claim by Apple that the iPhone 4's signal-strength issues were largely an optical illusion caused by faulty software that "mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength."
The tests also indicate that AT&T's network might not be the primary suspect in the iPhone 4's much-reported signal woes.

If you want an iPhone that works well without a masking-tape fix, we continue to recommend an older model, the 3G S.

老實講,這一定是一個硬體問題,
只希望台灣上市時能夠解決~
若未來會買也一定會套住,但若買到一隻硬體有問題的機子內心也會不爽.

當然,這次最不爽的是jobs和apple制式的回答~~
"死不認錯"的個性很令人討厭

還把訊號衰減改口成為"演算法"的錯誤~
我大學修的演算法可說是少數85分以上的必修科目,其它大多只在及格邊緣 =.=

"演算法"真的很有趣,也是資訊領域少數具有"創意"的一門課,
在日後工作中也很實用,因為很多現成的data structure都不一定夠用,
利用"演算法"來解決程式問題,會很有成就感...

apple把天線問題轉移到algorithm,實在很無言 =.=

這個問題應該不難驗證吧，找個訊號要死不死的地方，先請別人打一次電話，然後握住「G點」，過一會再打一次電話，看看能不能通話或品質有沒有差別，這樣子就不用管訊號是幾格，多試幾次答案不就揭曉了嗎？

今天看到的一則英文新聞 (連結找不到了), 說星期五 Apple 可能會有驚人的發表..

要不就是全面 recall, 估計花費美金 1.5 billion (15 億 = 將近五百億台幣), 要不就是每台 iPhone 4 送一個 bumper (市場價 USD $29, 但是估計成本只有 $1)

下面這段文字和圖片, 還是沒有讓我搞懂, 他要送的到底是 bumper 還是其他的 case ? 目前為止 Apple 自己做的只有 bumper, 但是他又講的讓人家認為 "他沒辦法免費送你 bumper"... 難道會是讓你任選其他廠商的 case 嗎?

因為我有買了七台 iPhone 4, 所以也蠻關切這個問題, 我打電話去 apple store 問, 他們說還沒有收到任何明確指示, 也不知道要送的到底是什麼 case.
